About Us

Lone Eagle Entertainment Ltd. is a multiple award winning independent production company based in Toronto, Canada. Founded in 1996 by Michael Geddes, Lone Eagle develops and produces unscripted high-concept television formats and scripted programming.

Lone Eagle is well known for the award winning, multi-season series You Gotta Eat Here! (150 episodes) which is seen around the world. Lone Eagle’s series Popstars was the #1 rated Canadian series for three consecutive seasons and was a landmark unscripted programming event in Canadian television. Lone Eagle also brought TV audiences the comedy panel show Too Much Information as well as multiple seasons of such favorites as: Big Food Bucket List, Wipeout Canada, Inside the Box, You Bet Your Ass, The Office Temps, Hooked Up, Game On, The Call, Supermodels, Tribes of the 21st Century and Carlawood.

Lone Eagle recently launched its feature documentary, “Offside: The Harold Ballard Story”, which debuted at the Whistler film festival in late 2022 and as a ‘big event’ television debut on the CBC in 2023. The highly acclaimed and ratings winning movie tells the story of the controversial owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs during his 25 year reign.

Lone Eagle is known in the industry as innovators and producers of ground-breaking ideas with a particular specialization in lifestyle, competition, comedy, game and documentary. In 2005 Lone Eagle was awarded Innovative Producer of the year at the Banff World TV festival among its many nominations and awards.  Throughout the years, the Company has also been a go-to Producer of international hit formats like Popstars and Wipeout for launching very successful Canadian versions with local broadcasters.

Lone Eagle is in daily contact with all US and Canadian media outlets with an ongoing slate of innovative series concepts that maintain our high standard for leading edge thinking in our development.

MICHAEL GEDDES

President/CEO of Lone Eagle Entertainment

 

Michael Geddes launched Lone Eagle Entertainment Ltd in 1996 and has built a Worldwide reputation for producing highly rated, high concept television. Michael was the recipient of the 2005 Banff World Television –Innovative Producer Award.

Lone Eagle proudly produced 150 episodes of the award winning TV series You Gotta Eat Here! for Food Network Canada. You Gotta Eat Here! won two awards at the 2014 and 2017 Canadian Screen Awards: Best Lifestyle or Talk Program or Series, and Best Direction in a Lifestyle/Practical Information Program or Series. Lone Eagle is currently in its 4th season of Big Food Bucket List for Food Network Canada.

Before You Gotta Eat Here!, Lone Eagle’s first major network success was the pop music documentary Popstars, which debuted as the #1 Canadian Primetime Series in February 2001 and was the #1 Network series for three seasons running. This series was the first of its kind in Canada and nominated for Best Reality Series at the 2003 Gemini Awards.

Since then, Geddes also created and executive produced Too Much Information for Super Channel, Tribes of the 21st Century for Discovery Channel, multiple seasons of Carlawood, 130 episodes of Inside the Box for TVtropolis, 76 episodes of the hit game show series You Bet Your Ass on The Comedy Network, The Office Temps, Supermodels, Game On, Get A Grip On Golf for Global Television, Hooked Up (nominated as ‘Best Reality Series’ at the 2004 Gemini Awards), The Call for Life Network, and the ratings juggernaut Wipeout Canada for Shaw Media.

Recently, Geddes executive produced and produced Offside: The Harold Ballard Story the Companies first feature documentary which debuted at the Whistler Film fest in December 2022 and on the CBC in 2023.

In his charity work, Geddes is the creator of the highly acclaimed ‘Laughter is the Best

Medicine’ Comedy Gala, a major fundraiser for Michael Garron Hospital Foundation that has featured Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and Jim Gaffigan headlining the event. He is the honourary Vice-Chair of Michael Garron Hospital Foundation and former board member of the Merry Go Round Children’s Foundation.

Michael has three children and currently resides in Toronto with his wife Lisa.

RACHEL HORVATH

Senior Vice President, Television Production

 

Rachel began her media career working as an editor and writer in magazine journalism. In 1998, she launched the national Canadian women’s magazine, Blonde, of which she was Co-Editor in Chief. In 2000 Rachel made the move to television production and joined the team at Lone EagleEntertainment. Rachel is the Producer of the CBC Original documentary feature OFFSIDE: THE HAROLD BALLARD STORY. Rachel’s television credits include Executive Producer of BIG FOOD BUCKET LIST (40 x ½hour for Food Network Canada); Supervising Producer of YOU GOTTA EAT HERE! (150 x ½ hour forFood Network Canada); Senior Producer of the Canadian version of the international hit WIPEOUT (14x 1 hour for TVtropolis); Producer of the multi-cam comedy chat show TOO MUCH INFORMATION (39x ½ hour for Super Channel); the studio comedic clip show MEME GURL (for Slice); Series Producer of multi-cam studio game show INSIDE THE BOX (2 x 65 episodes for TVtropolis); the anthology documentary series TRIBES OF THE 21ST CENTURY (3 episodes for Discovery Civilization); and 2 seasons of CARLAWOOD (documentary series for TVtropolis).
